Welcome to the Devonport Dragons Junior Hockey Club
We are a very successful club that has been in existence for over 16 years. We like to be known for our inclusive and enjoyable approach to hockey, however we also celebrate our successes.
The club will continue to provide training between the junior club and the senior parent clubs (PGSOB and Mannamead Ladies). The older boys and girls (school years 8 onwards) will continue to have coaching provided by the senior clubs (PGSOB and Mannamead Ladies). Training for the older girls will continue on Wednesday evenings at UCP Marjon and the boys will now be training at Brickfields. The older boys and girls can continue to attend the Sunday sessions if they want additional coaching or to participate in the young coaching opportunities.
Note with the changes to the way the web is used, our Facebook page is the one that is actively maintained.
Dates for 2018/19 season
The club will restart on Sunday 2nd September and will run until the 9th December. We will then restart on the 7th January finishing on the 14th April which will also be our presentation day. We operate through the half terms, but not on Easter Sunday. We then have two summer fill in sessions on the 2nd Sunday of May and June.
The times are the same - Sundays, 10am until 11:30am. Please bring shin-pads and good footwear. We also highly recommend gum shields.
Friday night games - dates
The times of these are generally known at the beginning of the week. All games are played at Marjons hockey pitch (at the back of the campus, not in front of the cafe area)
This year Matt from Hockey Dynamics is co-ordinating this and has the most up to date inforamtgion in the 'What's On' area on the main page.
The timings are the same for Sundays 10:00 until 11:30. The weekly training fee is £3.00. Where more than one family member attends on a particular day, each will be charged the reduced amount of £2.50.
The club has enrolled in a club wide hockey insurance scheme - for details click here. To cover the costs of this scheme there will be one-off charge of £3 levied during the initial training payment.
We are looking for more younger players in particular, and still have the offer of the first two sessions being free. To start playing you will need some trainers and shinpads and preferably a mouth guard and we can supply the the other equipment.
It is a club requirement that each member of the club has a completed membership form. The main purpose is to ensure we have up to date contact details in the event of an emergency. They also provide the team managers with the contact details to allow them to call up their teams.
We would appreciate you completing the form in advance, which can be downloaded here
In The D - the new England Hockey site for juniors
A new website specifically for junior hockey has now been launched by England Hockey. How about visiting it and seeing what's there.
